New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on 'Ayurveda Day' on Tuesday, expressing confidence in the enduring usefulness of this ancient medical system for promoting healthy lives worldwide.
"I extend my heartfelt greetings to everyone on Ayurveda Day. This auspicious day, marking Lord Dhanvantari's birth anniversary, celebrates Ayurveda's profound role in our rich culture—a significance now recognized globally. I am confident that Ayurveda will continue to support the health and wellness of humanity," PM Modi shared in Hindi on X.
In honor of Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, PM Modi will inaugurate, launch, and lay the foundation for several health sector projects valued at approximately Rs 12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. The Ministry of Ayush will also organize an event at AIIA to commemorate the day.
This year's celebration will feature active involvement from startups and industry players, aiming to position Ayurveda at the forefront of global health innovation. Leading Ayurvedic experts have shared their thoughts on the importance of the event, and Ayush professionals are especially excited about this year’s focus on Ayurveda's innovative potential.
Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor to the Ministry of Ayush and Director of the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) in Shillong, highlighted the theme, "Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health." He stated, "This theme was selected to showcase extensive research validating Ayurveda's scientific contributions to health promotion and disease treatment.
Ayurveda holds relevance in healthcare across various social, cultural, and geographical spectrums. The focus on innovation aims to inspire young people to explore Ayurveda and establish startups." Dr. Nesari also noted the growing enthusiasm for Ayurveda, particularly in the North East states, where its acceptance is rapidly increasing.
The annual Ayurveda Day celebration aligns with Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras). Since its inception in 2016, Ayurveda Day has gained global prominence, as Ayurveda remains among the oldest known approaches for disease treatment. (ANI)
