MP to Launch 11 Ayurveda Colleges, Unani Medicine in Hindi

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is set to expand its academic offerings by introducing 11 new Ayurveda colleges and launching Unani medicine courses in Hindi, following the state’s initiative to offer MBBS and engineering courses in Hindi.

Key Announcements by CM Mohan Yadav:

  • Unani Medicine in Hindi: CM Yadav declared that Unani medicine courses would soon be taught in Hindi, aligning with the state’s efforts to promote Hindi in technical and medical education.

  • New Ayurvedic Colleges: Plans to establish 11 new Ayurvedic colleges across the state were announced, aiming to strengthen Ayurveda education.

Focus on Ayurveda:

Speaking at the Arogya Mela and National Seminar under Ayurveda Parv-2025 at Pt. Khushilal Sharma Government Ayurveda College, CM Yadav highlighted Ayurveda's role in promoting holistic well-being:

  • Ayurveda for Longevity: He emphasized the ancient principle of "Jivete Sharad Shatam" (living a hundred years) and noted that Ayurveda offers profound insights into achieving a healthy, long life.

  • Global Significance: Ayurveda’s natural and plant-based remedies make it a global ambassador of traditional medicine.

  • Integration of Courses: Under the New Education Policy (NEP), universities in the state are now permitted to offer a variety of courses, including Ayurvedic, medical, paramedical, and nursing programs.

Upcoming Developments:

  • All India Ayurveda Institute in Ujjain: The state government will support the establishment of this prestigious institute.

  • Expansion of Ayurveda: Efforts will be made to integrate paramedical and nursing courses with Ayurveda education to create a holistic medical ecosystem.

Promoting Hindi in Education:

Madhya Pradesh is the first state to promote Hindi as a medium for teaching allopathy medicine and engineering. Extending this initiative to Unani medicine reflects the state’s commitment to making education accessible in regional languages.

With these steps, Madhya Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for traditional medicine and regional language education, reinforcing its cultural and academic identity.
