NMC Extends Deadline for Faculties to Submit Willingness as Assessors

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for medical college faculties to submit their willingness to become assessors for the Apex Medical Commission by an additional 15 days.

Initially, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the Commission set the deadline for 18.12.2024. However, on 19.12.2024, NMC issued a new notification extending the deadline by 15 days, starting from 19.12.2024.

Medical Dialogues previously reported that MARB emphasized the importance of conducting medical college inspections to ensure and improve the quality of medical education in India. It also mentioned that surprise inspections would be carried out at various medical colleges, with faculty members from government medical colleges engaged for this purpose.

On 02.12.2024, NMC issued a notice requesting the Dean/Principal of all Government Medical Colleges to distribute a Google form to eligible faculties who could become PG Guides. The form sought their willingness to assist the Commission with the task of conducting medical college assessments periodically.

With the extended deadline, faculties now have 15 more days to submit their willingness. MARB Director Arun Kumar Singh referenced the previous notice in his communication on 19.12.2024, stating, "Attention is invited to MARB, NMC's Public Notice of even number dt. 02.12.2024, wherein Deans/Principals of Government Medical Colleges were requested to share the Google form with eligible faculties. The deadline for submission was initially set for 18.12.2024. However, the timeline has now been extended by 15 more days from the date of this public notice."

He further mentioned that all eligible faculty members of government medical colleges/institutions should submit their willingness within the new timeline.

In a follow-up notice, NMC Secretary Prof. B. Srinivas informed the Principal/Dean of all medical colleges/institutes in India regarding the "Creation of Assessor Pool for conducting inspection of medical colleges." The Commission referenced the Public Notice N-19011/13/2024-Assessment Cell/8304944 dated 19-12-2024, which highlights the extension of the timeline and urges all concerned stakeholders to take note of the change.
