Manipur: Postgraduate dental aspirants preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test—Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) 2025 have submitted a memorandum to the Executive Director of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), requesting the inclusion of Imphal as an exam center.
In the memorandum, students emphasized that they have completed their BDS course and now wish to appear for NEET MDS 2025 to pursue postgraduate studies in dentistry. However, the absence of an examination center in Manipur puts them at a significant disadvantage.

According to a report by e-Pao Media News, despite Manipur having three government medical colleges, two dental colleges, and one private medical college, NBEMS has not allocated an examination center in the state.
Students further highlighted that many candidates come from financially weaker backgrounds, and the ongoing unrest in the state since May 3, 2023, has worsened their socio-economic conditions. Given these challenges, affording travel and accommodation for the NEET MDS 2025 exam outside Manipur remains a major burden.
Appeal for an Exam Centre in Imphal
Through their representation, students urged NBEMS to set up at least one NEET MDS 2025 examination center in Imphal, stressing that this decision would serve the public interest and promote fair access to higher education.
Meanwhile, NBEMS has scheduled the NEET MDS 2025 exam for April 19, 2025, with the application window open from February 18 to March 10, 2025.
Notably, NBEMS had also excluded Imphal from the list of exam centers for NEET PG 2024, making it difficult for local candidates to travel due to restrictions on national highways. This recurring issue continues to create significant challenges for students in Manipur.
