Bihar – Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently visited Saran district as part of his Pragati Yatra. During the visit, he laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Chhapra and inaugurated a government medical college and hospital.
The Chhapra Medical College, built at a cost of Rs 425 crore, aims to provide advanced healthcare facilities to the people of the Saran division. CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the college on Wednesday. Jai Prakash University in Chhapra provided the land for the medical college's construction.
According to TOI media, Chhapra Medical College will offer 100 MBBS seats. In addition, the college will provide a BSc in Nursing, with 60 seats. The college and hospital will have a total capacity of 500 beds, catering to patients not only from Saran but also from Siwan and Gopalganj districts. The facility will also include a rest house for attendants.
The construction of Chhapra Medical College and Hospital took place on land owned by JP University. To ensure smooth connectivity, the administration has decided to provide separate access from NH-31 (formerly NH-19). Meanwhile, student enrollment for the new government medical college in Chhapra will begin soon, with academic activities expected to commence shortly thereafter.
Furthermore, the Health Department has appointed 17 nurses and 7 clerks for the new medical college hospital. These staff members have been instructed to take charge promptly.
Currently, the state boasts 11 government medical colleges and hospitals, alongside 8 private hospitals. The Chief Minister's Pragati Yatra is expected to usher in a new wave of development in Chhapra and its surrounding areas, generating excitement among local residents.
