Notification:
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has processed all 1675 applications for initiating new PG medical courses and increasing intake capacities.
Based in New Delhi, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has completed the processing of all 1675 applications aimed at commencing new postgraduate medical courses and enhancing existing PG medical seats. The NMC finalized this procedure after addressing the final 297 applications received from over 73 medical institutes nationwide. On July 14, 2024, the NMC issued a notice listing these 297 applications and notified the respective medical colleges of their decisions through the provided email IDs in the online applications. This communication was intended for their information and prompt action within the designated timeline. Among these applications, 267 sought an increase in existing PG medical course seats, while 30 applied to establish new PG medical courses.
With this, the NMC concluded the process of communicating decisions for all 1675 applications received. However, the Commission clarified that final decisions do not automatically imply approval for all these applications.
"In continuation of MARB’s Public Notices dated April 28, 2024, regarding applications from medical institutions to start or expand PG medical courses and seats, it is stated that MARB has finalized decisions on 297 additional applications (for initiating new PG medical courses and increasing seats in PG medical courses for the academic year 2024–25). These decisions have been communicated via email IDs (as specified in the online applications) to the concerned medical institutions and colleges for their information and necessary action within the stipulated timeline," stated the NMC in its notice dated July 14, 2024.
"A list containing the application numbers of each of the aforementioned 297 applications (30 for new PG Medical courses and 267 for increased seats in PG Medical courses) is attached to this public notice for general information," it added.
Medicaljagat has been providing updates on NMC's earlier communications, detailing final decisions on applications seeking approval to initiate new PG medical courses or increase existing seats. For instance, through a notice on April 28, 2024, NMC conveyed its decisions to 18 medical colleges regarding 101 applications to commence new PG medical courses and expand seats for the academic year 2024-2025. The Commission indicated that communications regarding final decisions on remaining applications would follow in due course.
Subsequently, on May 4, 2024, NMC issued another notice, communicating decisions to 31 medical institutes concerning 153 applications. Over the past month, NMC has continued to notify its final decisions on numerous other applications. Most recently, through a notice dated June 3, 2024, NMC addressed 117 additional applications seeking to start or expand PG medical seats. Furthermore, on June 12, 2024, NMC communicated decisions on 156 more applications. Similar notifications were dispatched to medical colleges on June 21, 2024, regarding 301 applications.
Referring to these prior communications, NMC mentioned in its notice dated July 14, 2024, "It may be recalled that through MARB’s public notices dated April 28, 2024, May 4, 2024, May 10, 2024, May 18, 2024, May 21, 2024, May 30, 2024, June 3, 2024, June 12, 2024, and June 21, 2024, it was announced that final decisions on 1378 online PG Medical course applications had already been communicated via email IDs (as indicated in the online applications) to the concerned medical institutions and colleges."
The Commission affirmed that it has conveyed final decisions on all 1675 applications, comprising 1010 applications for initiating new PG medical courses and 665 applications for expanding PG medical seats, to the relevant medical institutions.
"Therefore, final decisions by MARB have now been communicated regarding all 1675 applications (1010 applications for new PG medical courses and 665 applications for increased seats in PG medical courses) to the medical institutions and colleges concerned for the academic year 2024–25," it stated.
However, clarifying that final decisions do not equate to approval for all 1675 applications, NMC emphasized, "Final decisions do not imply approval for all 1675 applications. They could result in approval, disapproval, or the withdrawal of applications upon the request of concerned medical institutions. All decisions will be posted on the NMC website in due course."
