The second round of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate NEET UG 2024, now includes 614 additional seats. The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) updated the information about these extra seats on its official website,
Five medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh added seven seats, four colleges in Maharashtra added seven seats, and eight colleges in Telangana added 600 seats.
While all genders can access the seats in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, 50% of the seats in Telangana are reserved for female candidates.
In addition, colleges across West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, Puducherry, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Delhi (NCT), Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Bihar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have collectively added 6,947 virtual vacancies for the second round of MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing admissions.
Furthermore, on September 7, MCC revealed that the UGC had granted 'Deemed to be University' status to four universities. In accordance with the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India's directives in W.P. (C) No. 267/2017 in Dar-Us-Slam Educational Trust and Ors. vs. Medical Council of India & Ors., MCC has included the seats from these universities in the seat matrix for Round 2 of UG Counselling 2024 to benefit the candidates.
The colleges added to the seat matrix are Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad (200 seats), Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Hyderabad (200 seats), Malla Reddy Institute of Dental Sciences, Hyderabad (100 seats), and Malla Reddy Dental College for Women, Hyderabad (100 seats).
