Medanta to Operate 750-Bed Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi, Investing ?600 Crore

Global Health, which operates Medanta hospitals, announced on Thursday that it had signed the agreement with the Dr. Narayan Dutt Shirmali Foundation International Charitable Trust Society. Medanta will operate and manage a super specialty hospital in Pitampura, New Delhi, beginning operations in four years, thanks to this partnership.

Medanta plans to invest Rs. 600 crores in the project over the next 3-4 years, funding it through a mix of internal accruals and debt financing. The hospital will operate under Medanta's full control, with the agreement set for an initial term of 30 years, extendable on mutually agreed terms.

Under the agreement, the society will develop the hospital building and civil infrastructure, while Medanta will handle investments in internal fitouts, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, furniture, and medical equipment.

The hospital will be located on a 7-acre site in Pitampura, with a total built-up area of 7.6 lakh sq. ft. (excluding the basement). Medanta highlighted the site's good connectivity to the Outer Ring Road and its proximity to high-density residential areas, allowing the hospital to meet the region's growing healthcare demands.

The 750-bed super-specialty hospital will offer over 30 specialties, including cardiac care, neurosciences, cancer, orthopedics, digestive and hepatobiliary sciences, multispecialty robotic surgeries, regenerative medicine, and a full range of transplants.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, chairman and managing director of Medanta, stated, "This large-scale hospital aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality quaternary care and will enable us to serve communities in Delhi for decades to come."
