Notification:
Srinagar: To strengthen public health services and uphold medical ethics, the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) has directed all private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, and clinics in the Union Territory to register their medical practitioners, whether local or from outside the region, with JKMC.
The directive addresses rising concerns about unregistered medical practitioners operating in private healthcare facilities across Jammu and Kashmir. The president of JKMC highlighted that some private medical establishments, including hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, clinical laboratories, and blood banks, have allowed practitioners to work without proper registration. Condemning this practice, the president emphasized that it violates established regulations.
In a statement reported by the Hindustan Times, the president stated:
"The J&K Medical Council strongly urges all proprietors and managing directors of private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, clinical laboratories, and blood banks to stop allowing any doctor—whether from Jammu & Kashmir or outside—to practice, perform investigations, procedures, or surgeries in their establishments without obtaining permanent registration or additional qualification registration from the J&K Medical Council."
The president also pointed out that such actions breach professional ethics and the code of conduct, creating serious risks for human lives.
The council instructed all proprietors and in-charges of private healthcare facilities to tell doctors practicing without proper registration to apply and acquire it online through the J&K Medical Council's website.
The JKMC warned that failing to comply with these regulations would lead to strict consequences. Medical professionals practicing without valid registration will face disciplinary measures under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics Regulations, 2002.
This initiative aims to ensure accountability, protect public health, and maintain high standards of medical practice in the region.
