Puducherry - The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has extended the application deadline for the E. Mahalingam Memorial Award and the Dr. Shyam Sharma Memorial Award. These awards are open to MD, MS, and PhD students.
JIPMER will celebrate its 10th Research Day on 8th March 2025, during which these prestigious awards will be presented. Initially, the deadline for applications was set for 31st December 2024. However, as per the latest circular, students now have until 7th January 2025 to submit their applications.

Award Details and Submission Guidelines:
E. Mahalingam Memorial Award
- Purpose: Awarded for the best scientific paper presentation by a PhD student.
- Submission Requirements:
- One hard copy of the manuscript.
- One soft copy was sent via email to the Dean Research office.
- A cover letter including the manuscript title and applicant's contact details (phone number included).
- Deadline: 7th January 2025.
- Evaluation: Based on the manuscript and an oral presentation during Research Day.
- Note: Late submissions will not be accepted.
Dr. Shyam Sharma Memorial Award
- Purpose: Awarded for the best MD/MS dissertation.
- Eligibility: MD/MS students who joined in the July 2021 and January 2022 sessions.
- Submission Requirements:
- One hard copy of the completed dissertation, including the cover and signature pages.
- One soft copy was sent via email to the Dean Research office.
- Deadline: 7th January 2025.
- Note: Late submissions will not be considered.
JIPMER encourages all eligible students to take advantage of the extended deadline and submit their applications promptly.
