AIIMS Delhi's ICU and Operation Services Expand by 40% in Two Years

AIIMS Delhi's Intensive Care and Operation Services Increased by 40% in the Last Two Years: MoS Pratap Jadhav

Over the past two years,AIIMS Delhi has seen significant growth in its healthcare services. Inpatient beds increased by more than 30%, while intensive care and operation theater services expanded by nearly 40%.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, made this announcement during the 69th Foundation Day celebrations of AIIMS, Delhi.

He also highlighted the establishment of a Center of Excellence focused on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, which is expected to develop AI-based solutions for evaluating chest X-rays, early detection of diabetic retinopathy, and identification of skin lesions.

Speaking at the event, Prataprao Jadhav underscored AIIMS Delhi's operational excellence, noting its role as a public healthcare and medical research institute. “In the last two years, inpatient beds have grown by over 30%, and intensive care and operation theater services have increased by nearly 40%,” he said.

Jadhav further praised AIIMS New Delhi for its leadership in medical education, research, and healthcare in India, emphasizing its global influence and achievements.

He also pointed out AIIMS Delhi’s role as the national resource center for the National Medical College Network (NMCN) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Through this, AIIMS has established connections with over 100 medical colleges, enhancing undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs.

Professor M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi, also shared updates during the event. He mentioned that AIIMS has received NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) certification for some of its blocks and centers and is in the process of obtaining certification for all centers, including the main hospital. He also highlighted the institution's pioneering efforts in implementing the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), which has resulted in the creation of over 7 lakh ABHA IDs (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) and more than 20 lakh scan-and-share tokens.

Over the decades, it has solidified its position as a premier institution, contributing to various fields of medicine and continuing to inspire medical institutions worldwide.
