Among the newly designated examination cities are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Bangkok, Singapore, and Lagos, extending the reach of NEET-UG testing facilities. Notably, the United Arab Emirates hosts three cities, with each of the other countries accommodating one examination center.
As per the recent announcement by NTA, students who initially selected examination centers in India but wish to switch to foreign cities can do so during the correction window. However, candidates opting for overseas centers will be required to pay an additional fee.
For new applicants, the registration process, concluding on March 9, allows them to directly choose their preferred country and city from the provided drop-down menu.
NEET remains the primary entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses in India, managed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the Ministry of Education. The decision to incorporate overseas centers comes in response to concerns raised by expatriate students regarding the absence of such facilities for the 2024 NEET exam.
Dr. Thakur S. Mulchandani, Director and Principal of Sunrise English Private School in Abu Dhabi, highlighted common challenges faced by parents, including managing schooling commitments for other children and logistical complexities associated with travel arrangements and accommodation expenses.
Similarly, Pramod Mahajan, Director and Principal of Sharjah Indian School, expressed satisfaction that the concerns of students were duly addressed following representations made to the Indian education minister through the Indian Association Sharjah, reflecting a collaborative effort to ensure students' well-being.
