NEET-PG Entrance Test Date Postponed by Government Decision

The Union Health Ministry announced on Saturday that the NEET-PG entrance exam, originally set for June 23, has been postponed as a precautionary measure due to recent concerns regarding the integrity of certain competitive exams. Due to these issues, the NEET-PG entrance exam originally set for June 23, 2024, has been postponed," the ministry confirmed.

"The Ministry of Health sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused to students. This decision is in the best interest of the students and to maintain the examination's integrity," the ministry added. Following criticisms about discrepancies in competitive exams, the Centre on Saturday removed National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Subodh Singh and transferred the investigation into irregularities in the NEET-UG exam to the CBI.

"For transparency in the examination process, a review concluded that the matter should be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)," the Ministry of Education said. The government remains committed to maintaining the sanctity of examinations and protecting students' interests. Any individual or organization involved in irregularities will face strict action, according to an Education Ministry official.

Additionally, the Education Ministry has established a seven-member panel, led by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, to review the NTA's functioning and recommend examination reforms. Regarding the postponement, Congress leader Pawan Khera commented, "Postponing the NEET PG exam on such short notice shows this government's inability to conduct exams effectively.

The Education Minister, who defended the NTA days ago, is now removing its Director General. Who is accountable for these exams? When will this investigation conclude? When will the government successfully conduct exams?" NSUI president Varun Chaudhary expressed concern, stating, "Postponing the NEET-PG exam at the last minute has caused anger and worry among aspirants about the state of the education system."
