Karnataka's MBBS Seat Distribution: Updates for 2024-25

The Karnataka state education minister on Monday announced that there will be 12,045 MBBS centers in the state for the 2024–2025 academic year. Karnataka Education Minister Dr Manmohan Singh came under criticism from Senator Ivan D’Souza over the article in The Times.Sharan Prakash reportedly petitioned R Patil to give the state more MBBS seats as there were reportedly not enough.

Replying to Ivan, Patil said that 3,800 MBBS slots are available for distribution in 24 government medical institutes in Karnataka. According to TOI, of these, 567 are all India reservation seats and the remaining seats are state government reservation seats.

Besides, there are 8,245 MBBS seats in 47 private medical colleges in Karnataka. Of these, 2,108 seats are under the government quota, and the remaining seats are half of the all-India quota ,for the 2024-25 academic year, Karnataka’s state education minister said yesterday that the state would have 12,045 MBBS seats. According to a TOI report, Congress political party leader Ivan D’Souza has summoned Karnataka Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash R Patil to inquire about the availability of MBBS seats in the state for that academic year

Replying to Ivan, Patil informed that 3,800 MBBS seats are available for allotment in 24 government medical colleges in Karnataka. Of these, 567 seats are all-India quota seats and the rest are state government quota seats, TOI reported.
