Table of Contents NEET MDS 2024
NEET MDS 2024 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for admission to Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses offered by various dental colleges in India. The examination is held in computer-based mode and tests the dental knowledge and clinical skills of aspiring dental students.
NEET MDS 2024 will be conducted by National Board of Examination in the month of March. And the counselling is conducted by Directorate of General of Health Services. Approximately 2 lakh students appear for this exam every year.

The admit card for NEET MDS 2024 can be downloaded a few days prior to the examination date from the NBE website by entering the candidate’s login credentials. The admit card serves as an entry pass to the examination hall and must be produced along with a valid photo ID.
To be eligible to appear for NEET MDS 2024, candidates must meet the following criteria:
NEET MDS 2024 is a three-hour and thirty-minute long computer-based examination with 240 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) based on various dental science subjects.

For each correct answer, 4 marks are awarded and 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

The results of NEET MDS 2024 are usually declared a few weeks after the examination date and can be accessed from the NBE website by entering the candidate's login credentials. The results are published in the form of a scorecard displaying the marks obtained by the candidate. The scorecard has to be downloaded which will have name, roll no., marks obtained, rank secured and percentage. The marks obtained is however valid only for that academic year.
After declaration of result, merit list is prepared and cut off is decided for that year which is based on the highest merit and total number of applicants. Only those candidates can participate in the counselling process who score above the set cut off score.
The counseling process for NEET MDS 2024 is conducted by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and participating dental colleges. The counseling involves registering, document verification, and seat allocation based on the candidate's scores in the examination. The allocated seat is confirmed after the payment of admission fee and completion of other admission formalities.
Candidates above the cut off marks are allowed to participate in counselling. Total 4 rounds are conducted. Round 1 and 2, mop up round and stray vacancy round. There are two quotas through which candidates can apply for counselling – All India Quota (AIQ)- 50% and State Quota -50%. Stray vacancy round is conducted only if any seats are vacant. If not, then the counselling ends at mop up round.
