15 Jul, 24 : Navigating INI-CET and Counselling for MD/MS at PGIMER Candigarh Know More

AIIMS Delhi conducts a National level entrance exam called INI-CET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Exam ) for admission into PGIMER University. This exam provides admission to master courses like MD, MS, MDS, MCh.

INI CET 2024

INI CET is conducted twice in a year, January session and July session. As of now, the admission process for January session has been completed.

  1. Admissions for the July sessions have begun early March.
  2. Applicants have to fill up the application form in the official website www.aiimsexams.ac.in . Candidates have to register, fill up the application forms and pay the application fees through online mode. No offline applications or payments are accepted.
  3. Applicants have to upload the required documents in pdf format and keep an eye regularly to ensure it gets accepted.
  4. Documents required are:
    1. Photograph and signature
    2. Internship completion certificate
    3. Category certificate (if eligible)
  5. Applicants have to then choose the centre of exam and download the admit card which is to be shown at the centre at the time of examination.

INI CET Exam Pattern 2024

This exam is conducted in approximately 114 cities across the country.

INI CET Eligibility Criteria 2024

  • Nationality: Indian citizen, NRI, Foreign Nationals
  • Minimum Qualification: MBBS/BDS degree from a recognised university
  • Candidates must have completed their compulsory rotatory internship within 31st August 2023 and have a completion certificate.
  • Medical students with a registration certificate issued by State Medical Council (SMC) or Medical Council of India (MCI).
  • No age limit for applicants.
  • No attempt limits for applicants.
  • Cut off for INI CET for general -55% and SC, ST- 50%.

INI CET Syllabus 2024

  • For MD and MS, the paper pattern is very much similar to NEET-PG. Three sections of pre-clinical, para clinical and clinical questions each. The level of questions will be of under graduate level i.e., MBBS.
  • For MDS, the paper pattern is the same but the level of questions will be that of the BDS syllabus.

INI CET Exam Day

This examination is held twice a year. Applicants have to appear at the allocated centre at least 1 hour before the exam time [9am to 12pm]. After examination, a cut off percentage is decided on the basis of difficulty of paper and the number of candidates appeared.

INI CET Result 2024

The result will be declared on the AIIMS website on 3rd week of May tentatively. After the result declaration, a merit list is prepared and the candidates are ranked on several factors. In cases where there is a tie between marks of two candidates, then the tiebreaker depends on the following criteria:

  • The candidate with higher number of positive responses will be given a higher rank
  • The candidate with less number of negative marking will be given a higher rank
  • An elder candidate will be given a higher rank

After these procedures a candidate is allotted a particular rank, which will be used through out the counselling. The marks and rank of the candidate will be valid only for that particular session of counselling. It will not be accepted for the next session of the same year.

INI CET Counselling 2024

There is a total of 873 seats across the colleges which accepts INI CET marks. In PGIMER, there is a total of 123 seats which includes seats of all the specialities. After ranking, candidates have to register themselves for counselling procedure in the website www.pgimer.edu.in . Only those candidates who have obtained a rank above cut off rank can apply for counselling. Then candidates have to chose the colleges and the speciality they want to pursue their masters in and submit their choices.

At the end of the round, results are declared and seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit and availability of seats. In case a candidate doesn’t secure a seat in the first round, he/she can apply for further rounds. There is a total of 4 such rounds. The conduction of rounds depends on the availability of seats. If there are no seats lefts at the end of round 3 then no further round will be conducted.

For the candidates who managed to secure a seat in the first round, have to get their documents verified at the nearest document verification centre. After verification, candidates will be provided a provisional allotment letter. Candidates have to again visit the website and pay a part of their annual fees i.e., 3 lakhs and download a copy of their fee receipt. With all these documents, provisional allotment letter and fee receipt, the candidate has to appear at the university office for confirmation of admission. There the candidate will be provided with a confirmed admission letter.
