What is Medical Imaging?

Medical imaging techniques are used to create an image of  the inner real time image of the human body. Diagnostic imaging plays an important part in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating various diseases that can’t be detected by just external examination. This innovation plays a vital role in the modern healthcare system to take detailed images of organs, tissues, bones and other parts of the body..

In the present time various kinds of radiology devices use radio waves technique, sound waves technique, and computational techniques to inspect the different types of health conditions.

X-Ray

Getting the image of the inside part of the body is called X-ray. This technique is used to diagnose and detect lung disease, dental problems.gastrointestinal issues, and other health issues . The -ray technique uses the electromagnetic radiation beam that passes through the body and generates an x-ray image of the inside part of the body.

In X-ray medical imaging, the electromagnetic radiation beam passes through the body and generates an image of the inside part of the body. X-rays are used to diagnose and detect lung disease, dental problems, gastrointestinal issues, etc.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI or magnetic resonance imaging uses a large magnetic field, and strong radio waves. It helps to diagnose tumors, joint injuries, neurology disorders etc.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound (sound waves technique) is broadly used in pregnancy, and during the biopsies. This technique works under the high frequency waves, which are used to create an output image of the organs.

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy is generally used to guide the doctors during operations.Fluoroscopy shows real time video of moving organs such as heart, blood vessels, intestines etc.

About Medical Imaging Technology Course

There are several courses related to imaging techniques. The candidates can choose the diploma program, PG program, or certificate course.

BSc in Medical Imaging Technology

BSc in clinical Imaging is a full-time degree program the duration of the program is 3 years. The course is designed to give complete knowledge about the creation of medical scans of the human body, and their clinical diagnosis. This undergraduate degree program has a decent scope in the medical sector. After completing the degree, candidates can get the radiologist  job in hospitals, healthcare centers, and labs.

Diploma Medical Imaging Technology

Diploma in Imaging technology is very suitable for candidates who want to get jobs in entry level positions such as MRI technologists, ultrasound technologists, radiologic technologists, and other entry level Radiologists jobs.

MSc Medical Imaging Technology

MSc in Medical scanning Technology is a postgraduate-level program that provides advanced knowledge related to this field. Candidates will learn about the advanced principles and technologies in radiologic imaging. Candidates can also apply for a license in diagnostic imaging after completing the degree.

Medical Scanning Course Eligibility Criteria

The clinical Imaging eligibility conditions are different for various programs. Candidates are advised to check the university’s eligibility conditions before applying. Here eligibility for diploma, UG and PG program eligibility criteria are given below.

Diploma in Medical Imaging

  • The candidate must pass the 10+2 examination with a minimum score of 45%-50 % from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must have PCB/PCM as their main subjects in 12th grade.

BSc in Radiologist or Clinical Imaging

  • Candidates who complete the diploma program in the same field can apply for the lateral entry program.
  • The candidate must pass the higher secondary examination in the science stream.
  • The minimum percentage to take admission might be different as per the particular university’s rules.

MSc Medical Imaging Technology

  • MSc in clinical imaging course duration is 2-3 years. To get admission in this PG degree candidates must have an UG degree in radiologic imaging or in another related field.
  • Candidates must have 55%-50% in their UG mark sheets to be applicable for this program. Reserved category candidates will get the relaxation in minimum marks as per the university norms.
