The BVSc in Veterinary Pathology is five years long course and has an internship period of six to twelve months. Students gain clinical experiences during the internship as they directly work in veterinary clinics and hospitals as well as diagnostic labs. The course is structured into ten semesters. Each of the semesters deals with various aspects of animal pathology and health.
The curriculum involves theoretical studies, laboratory practices, clinical training, and fieldwork. This will assure students' exposure and appropriate preparation for practical challenges in diagnosing and researching in the animal health area.
The admission process for BVSc requires candidates to pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, obtaining at least 50% marks. Admission is primarily through the NEET-UG exam, which is mandatory for most veterinary colleges. The cleared NEET students undergo state or university-level counselling, depending upon the NEET score obtained. Few institutions conduct entrance exams or hold merit-based counselling for BVSc courses.
Several esteemed veterinary colleges in India provide BVSc in Veterinary Pathology. On average, it is around INR 10,000 to 1,00,000 per year for government colleges. Private colleges can range from INR 1,00,000 to 5,00,000 per year.
