BAMS provides complete knowledge about Ashtanga Ayurveda along with scientific methodologies in modern medicine and its application in various diseases. The BAMS course generally takes five and a half years but it also includes one year compulsory internship. The subjects offered include the Ayurveda system of medicine, human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathology besides biomedical, surgery, ENT, and operation sight. Bioresonance therapy, aromatherapy, refleology, acupressure/ Shiatsu, herbal medicine, Panchakarma detoxification and rejuvenation therapy, Preventive healthcare.

BAMS Course Admission 2025

BAMS admission is done through NEET UG scores which is conducted annually in the month of May in offline mode. For more information about the exam refer to NEET-UG overview.

  • It is a Multiple-Choice Question based exam which is conducted in offline mode.
  • The question paper comprises of total 200 questions out of which students have to attempt 180 questions of their own choice.
  • There are 3 main subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) which are further divided into sections.

The marking scheme is +4 for correct answers and -1 for incorrect answers. Centre Council of Indian Medicine is responsible for admission into BAMS courses in all the universities.

BAMS Course Eligibility

In order to pursue BAMS Course, the candidate must have passed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the understood subjects. Engineering admission is governed by the entrance examination mainly NEET-UG and thereafter admission through counseling,. Some institutions may also include other interviews or form of assessment.

  1. The minimum age of applicant must be 17 years as of 31 December 2024.
  2. The upper limit is 25 years as on May 5 with an exemption of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC.
  3. Applicant must have pursued Physics, Chemistry, Biology as their subjects in 12 and passed with 50% in each subject.
  4. Applicant must have completed their 12th or will be completing 12th by 2023 from a recognized board or open school.
  5. Applicants must be a citizen of India, Non-Resident of India, Person of Indian Origin or Foreign National.
  6. The admissions are given on the basis of merit and the cutoff decided for that particular year.

The first 4 years are theoretical learning while the last 1 year is compulsory rotatory internship wherein students gain hands on experience with patients.

  • 1st year – 12 months
  • 2nd year – 12 months
  • 3rd year- 18 months divided into 3rd first and 3rd second year.
  • 4th year- 10 months

Only after these 4.5 years of curriculum and 1 year of internship, the graduates earn an CCIM recognized practicing license and registration certificate. In case if a student is unable to fulfil his/her internship and retrieves his admission then he/she is subjected to penalty which is decided by the particular university.
